“The pro-life movement has always owned its goal of abolishing abortion in our lifetime,” said Students for Life Action & Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins. “And by that we don’t just mean stopping late-term abortions, abortions after viability, or the infanticide of children who survive abortion attempts; we mean protecting ALL children from the moment of conception. That is exactly what the Life Act does.”

WASHINGTON D.C. (07-01-2024) – Students for Life Action (SFLAction) President Kristan Hawkins applauded the efforts of U.S. Rep. Bob Good who last week introduced the Life Act in the U.S., which protects human beings from day one. “When human life begins, so should our legal rights,” Hawkins said. “We should not need to hit a certain milestone before our existence is acknowledged and our life protected. This bill will end the prejudice of ignoring people’s humanity until they are too old to be of interest to Planned Parenthood, and it serves as a safeguard for the preborn to ensure they receive equal rights under the law. It takes grittiness, boldness, and a passion for the preborn to oppose the abortion lobby and stand for life – we are grateful that Rep. Bob Good is leading the charge. And we are looking to President Trump and his team to join us in calling for respect for all life, in and out of the womb.”
The Life Act will make it a federal crime for a licensed medical professional who participates in interstate commerce or accepts federal funds to commit or prescribe an abortion at any point after fertilization. As a condition of accepting dollars for administering federally regulated health care programs, a program cannot use any funds to pay for an abortion. This applies to Medicaid, CHIP, Indian Health Service, Veterans Health Administration, TRICARE, and Title X. This bill also prohibits federally regulated health plans from covering abortions. This applies to employer-sponsored plans, the Affordable Care Act, and Federal Employees Health Benefits Program.
Join SFLAction and the pro-life community nationwide by taking action to support and work toward protecting every child and mother from the injustice of abortion from the moment of conception.
