“As out-of-state Chemical Abortion Pill pushers target women and preborn children in Arkansas, legislators must protect them, but despite today’s vote we are one step closer to building a life-saving coalition,” said Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins. “To those legislators who abandoned the least of these to deadly Chemical Abortion Pills we have one message: See you in the primaries.”
MEDIA NOTE: Students for Life Action (SFLAction) spearheaded 26 lobby days across the nation at the beginning of the 2025 state sessions and proudly applauds Arkansas as one of 13 states using the Make America Pro-Life Again Roadmap for legislative action.

LITTLE ROCK, AR (04-10-2025) –The Arkansas House Judiciary Committee did not advance HB 1678 to the floor for a vote, a measure that if it becomes law would stop illegal Chemical Abortion Pill trafficking into Arkansas, where Life in the womb has protection. Preventing the reckless distribution of dangerous Chemical Abortion Pills through illegal trafficking would be a massive step forward in upholding Arkansas’ laws to end the violence of abortion. While some “Hail Mary” moves may take place, the bill’s forward momentum in this session appears stalled because of the procedural moves of AK State Rep. Carol Dalby, the committee chair.
“Members of the Arkansas House Judiciary committee showed a failure of imagination, as they ignored the preborn infants who will lose their lives as well as their mothers who can also be harmed. Just this week we learned that even more women have died after being exposed to Chemical Abortion Pills. But if Rep. Dalby considered this move to block the bill political expedient, well, guess again. The Pro-Life Generation will be ready during primaries to hold Arkansas legislators accountable for not protecting pre-born children and their mothers from those peddling deadly Chemical Abortion Pills,” said SFLAction President Kristan Hawkins.

SFLAction has worked through our grassroots network, educating both voters and legislators about the stakes. Last week, SFLAction staff member Kelsey Muse testified before the committee about adding HB 1678, an SFLAction-inspired amendment, to the already-in-effect Abortion-Inducing Drugs Safety Act.
