Kyra Kishore, one of the National Leaders Collective’s (NLC) leaders of the month, is a Students for Life Action (SFLAction) State Captain attending the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. Learn more about Kishore’s activism below.
I started as the kind of pro-lifer who knew about the sanctity of life but was not active in the pro-life movement. When I went to the abortion facility to be a sidewalk advocate for the first time, I saw a woman walk into the abortion vendor to end her child’s life. Being so close to it opened my eyes to reality: abortion happens every day, and it happens in my state. Realizing the real issue and threat of abortion in my community, I decided to put my money where my mouth was and be pro-life in action, joining the pro-life movement to help change hearts and minds and abolish abortion.

My greatest involvement happened when I joined as a Students for Life Action (SFLAction) State Captain for 2024-2025. I’ve learned so much and have had the opportunity to be involved with so many significant pro-life initiatives. Besides being a part of NLC, I am the president of Choose Life at Pitt, the SFLA group at the University of Pittsburgh. Additionally, I interned on the marketing team with Let Them Live for the summer 2024 and fall 2024 semesters. I recently joined the Let Them Live social media team post-internship, which has been a wonderful experience.
Before the 2024 election, I passed out flyers against abortion extremism on campus at the University of Pittsburgh and gave out over 700 flyers.
Our group also participated in “40 Days of Campus Outreach,” a spin on 40 Days for Life, where we took the fall 40 Days for Life cycle and did outreach on campus. Some of our events included tabling with a local Pregnancy Help Center (PHC), making blessing bags for moms in need, praying at the abortion facility, tabling with the Pittsburgh 40 Days for Life chapter, chalking on campus, and handing out pro-life/pro-women flyers.

We participated in rapid response against the Planned Parenthood Action Fund campus group and its “Self-Managed Abortion” discussion by hosting a tabling at the same time as the event, resulting in 50 conversations about the dangers of Chemical Abortion Pills with students and then hosting a discussion on the truth about chemical abortion that evening. I have already learned so much from being a fellow with Students for Life of America (SFLA) and SFLAction. From not feeling inadequate as a leader in the pro-life movement to wanting to continue moving forward in the pro-life movement, I am so grateful that SFLA is such a helpful resource. More than ever, I feel equipped to be a pro-life leader in my community and beyond, and I hope to continue growing.
