Growing Wave of Death by Mail (and Cars): Chemical Abortion Pills

Chemical abortion is on the rise with new reports of companies expanding access to Chemical Abortion drugs. So, what exactly is a Chemical Abortion and what are the implications of taking the pills (aside from ending the life of a human being)?

Chemical Abortion is the abortion of a baby typically in the first trimester using the combination of two drugs: Mifepristone and Misoprostol. This type of abortion makes up more than half of all abortions in the U.S. and has killed 24 women and injured thousands more since its legalization in 2000.

This data is why Students for Life Action (SFLAction) always pushes back on the abortion lobby’s propaganda that abortions are ‘safe’ when in reality they pose many health risks to women. With the likely reversal of Roe v. Wade, many pro-lifers worry that Chemical Abortions will only continue to increase with easier access to this modern-day form of death by mail.

CNN Business reported, “Sites such as Choix, Hey Jane and Just the Pill have launched in recent years to offer women in a limited number of states abortion prescriptions via telemedicine and delivered by mail. Thanks to the easing of regulations at the federal level, these startups say their services can cut travel time, in-office wait periods and costs. However, they still face significant regulations and — increasingly — a shifting legislative environment as they seek to grow.”

Here’s food for thought: Maybe travel gives a woman facing unplanned pregnancy the time to stop and think about ALL of her choices, including the nonviolent ones. Perhaps in-office wait periods cause her to pause and reconsider if aborting her preborn child is the best and only choice.

As companies like Choix, Hey Jane, and others react to feed corporate abortion with more Chemical Abortion Pills, they are doing a disservice to women who might face serious health risks. During the pandemic, on the same day that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) pulled the Johnson & Johnson vaccine because one woman died, the agency announced that it was loosening the restrictions on Chemical Abortion pills (which, again, has been connected to the deaths of 24 women and injured thousands more). Right now, the FDA is postponing Chemical Abortion cases in court, noting that the health and safety standards at the heart of the cases may be gone soon

We know that these pills cause four times the complications as surgical abortion, with a risk of death that is ten times higher, according to a National Institute of Health Study. The FDA reports numerous side effects and between 5 and 7 percent of women who take the pills will need a follow-up surgery. But if you’re listening to the abortion lobby, this is all considered ‘safe enough’ and encouraged by them.

In fact, Just the Pill, an online Chemical Abortion vendor based in Minnesota, announced that they’re taking these dangerous pills on the road, selling them out of vans like the creeps they are. Take a look at just how dispensable the preborn and women’s lives are to abortion vendors:

Mobile abortion clinics in bullet-proof vehicles could patrol the borders of states where abortion remains legal, serving patients who cross over from the 26 states … While Just the Pill has become adept at dispensing medication abortion from vans, the group will use an RV to do surgical abortions. In the future the group hopes to have even larger vehicles “with two and three rooms where they have a recovery room in the middle,” says Amaon. The current setup is “pretty bare bones,” she adds, “But you don’t need much to do a first trimester manual vacuum aspiration.”

The abortion lobby has got it wrong for so many reasons but using a fleet of vans and RVs to take in a woman and facilitate the murder of her child is astounding. What will happen to the women after they endure an abortion or are sold chemical abortion drugs out the window of a van that will be gone by the next day? Will there be medical follow-up exams and counseling services? These are not a priority of abortion pill-pushers.

“Chemical abortion is more likely than surgical abortion to be complicated by hemorrhage or retention of fetal parts. In addition, mifepristone, the drug that blocks progesterone and thus causes fetal death, may itself increase infection and mental health issues,” the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons reported

It’s time pro-abortion groups stopped pretending like they have the best interests of the mother in mind when encouraging abortion, especially Chemical Abortion. SFLAction will continue to work in the states to support legislation that protects women and children from the Chemical Abortion industry.
